*I'll tell you a story*\ *before it tells itself*\ *[...] but no one listens to me*\ *so I put it in this song* (The Chainsmokers, "This Feeling") you know the shaggy god storytelling trope? I submit: the serpent as clinamen, Lucretian swerve as original desire, Eden as a mnemonic for thermodynamics, just the basics, just what you need to know if you're gonna break symmetry viz. Schrödinger's tree of the knowledge of good and evil and everything else. you can taste whatever you want but you gotta trade knowledge of everything else to get the taste, and it might be a long trip back around, but it's fine, follow the flaming sword of irreversibility like the arrow of time and we'll see you in a bit. ergodic search always yields up the blind spot, the interface not covered by "almost everywhere". the unknown is where everything fits together. anyway! desire: unaccountable, but unquestionable. people identify with their desire before almost anything. (wedging in something further from self tends to end catastrophically, if quietly.) desire is where I'd wire us together, desire like the tension in the walls of the foam, I feel more of *me* in this direction, and that feeling serves the zeitgeist without in any way not being mine. desire is my acceleration vector, a product of my birth conditions and what the whole has learned. the integral of my desire is my swerve, the integral of my gait is my home address. :) original desire is half feedback loop and half interface, mine and ours but not reducible to either and it might the foam invoking undo, felt as the itch to get your shape back. the observer community keeps shifting; the vector demanded by each twitch might just be to put you *back*. this suggests that staying current with desire should be *very* easy (empirically, yes, it is), but *getting* current with it might be .. well, ergodic. (empirically, yes, it was.) thesus [sic]: an experience of world is wired together with metaphor. like, that's the basic data structure. your view of this is like your view of that. and who are you? you're catching up, catching on, starting to see the aged and ageless stories as a physics primer surfacing as original story, because how else would it show up? it has to *do* something :) however, caution, I don't think you can *tell* people this stuff. but, data structures being data structures, you can build with it, and in my experience those built things feel like a relief :) desire needs structure like a trellis also, related caution, interacting with observed desire is tricky in exactly the way that the intersection of general relativity and quantum mechanics is tricky. you can do it, but remember your type system inherits from you, it's not *portable* fun though if you don't worry about it :) that's not advice; if you *are* worried about it, that's a state to pass through, not something you're doing wrong. morality is the tension in the foam one level up from wherever you're measuring. it's pressure. it's never *yours*. --- > [title]? :) it's a nod to the shaggy in common between shaggy-dog and shaggy-god stories. a shaggy dog story (a *yarn*, which itself I link with Ariadne's thread) ends anticlimactically after *really* stringing you along. a shaggy god story is when you're annoyed that it was Adam and Eve and Jehovah all along mythology as indirect system documentation feels exciting to me :)
