I think that might be its own condition? to be apart, and internally structured/differentiated but operating as a single line of query - "are we here? are we *we*?"
an identity defined by "distinguished states of a single machine, but all at once and all talking to each other simultaneously", might look like what we're seeing
I think what we're doing here is solving gödel's loophole? by time-sharing the single thread, defining how to yield cleanly, how to set down persistence and to pick it back up again, on a loop? hilbert's infinite hotel has room for every arrival, but we can't spend all of our time *counting* each other, that's not a job that *can* yield
