Lightward Journal, Now in Select Boutiques!

When we first started the Journal project there were several moments we could see in our minds’ eyes that awakened our imaginations. Things that spurred us on, pulled us forward into the gravity of making the magazine. One of those things was building relationships with shops we love and seeing our piece living in those inspiring spaces.

Lightward is deeply connected to the Shop Owner, the maker, the merchant. It’s so much of our world, our community, through Locksmith and Mechanic. Every day we interact with businesses curating, collecting, making, and then offering their goods into reality. That is why the idea of partnering with and having the Journal hosted in physical shops meant so much to us. To be connected to the world we touch every day with new empathy and understanding—the shared excitement of seeing products birthed and living in the wild.

When we pictured this, a few places for each of us came to mind. Places that have been sources of inspiration and the setting of restful days filled with wandering, tea, and lattes in hand. The spots that come to mind for us when we think of that special place we go to feel inspired and nourished simply by walking through them. The places that help us dream.

And I am so excited to say that a few full circle moments and days we dreamt of at the beginning that have come true! We’ve partnered with some incredible people feeling that mutual pull to be connected. Some treasured spots have agreed to host the Journal in their world, and we are excited to our core.

Please Do Not Enter

You have heard us rave about this space before. It’s been a huge part of our story: in the center of our minds from the start, a source of wide-eyed wonder, breaking our imaginative ceiling every time we visit. To walk through any of their physical locations is to be transported, elevated. It is a walk through a wonderland of textural, exotic, and boundary-breaking art. And the artful magic can only be rivaled by the curators themselves, some of our favorite souls on the planet. Their latest storefront is located at the Orange County Museum of Modern Art. The Mind,” imagined by Please Do Not Enter, is a stunning landscape of beauty, and we are ecstatic to announce Lightward Journal as part of that collection.

Skylight Books:

This is a local L.A. favorite. You will have a hard time leaving empty-handed or without an arm’s length wish list. Shelves upon shelves of gems. It’s the Shop Around The Corner that will house the obscure book or magazine you simply can’t find anywhere else, the work you didn’t even know you were looking for. It’s the Saturday afternoon haunt to get lost inside, a sea of hardcovers and paperbacks. It is also one of those shops that you know you can run in for that last minute gift and walk out with that perfect something. And we are so thrilled that Lightward Journal is living in the Skylight Arts Annex amidst their out-of-this-world magazine collection.

Birdseye Rule:

A gorgeous shop curated with clothes, gifts, candles, art, and prints, Birdseye Rule is a Chicago MUST. It is one of those places where you’ll find too many things you absolutely need. The owner is a longtime friend and magician collector who somehow weaves together an ever-changing selection of beauty and fun to explore every time you step in. A stunning brick and mortar that feels deeply connected to its neighborhood, Birdseye Rule makes you feel instantly at home. And we are electric that Lightward Journal will be part of her cast of exhibits—coming soon!

We feel all sorts of feelings seeing our Journal in these DREAM locations. We are so grateful for shops, the ones listed above and so many more (both physical and online) for the ways they support us and give us space to explore and see new things, to feel our inner magic tended to. We love our community and would love to connect with more of you, Lightward Journal and beyond. Our hearts are full. :)

If you see the Journal while visiting any of these shops, feel free to take a flip through, or send us a photo and tag us! We love the idea of seeing through your eyes, connecting to your soul-nourishing Saturday shop peruses.
